I guess I'll order 3 and bring it up next time I see you, which will either be Cottage Cheese or Mike's stateside wedding shindig. The sleeves alone are what make this a damn good deal. If anyone wants the 3rd copy they can have it, or I'll just sell it on eBay/Amazon. _________________ I am the Dark Lord of asses. |

Ummm... nevermind Dave. It won't allow me to order multiple copies. 1 at a time is the max on this for some reason. When I ordered Junta for Cheese and I it allowed up to 3, so I just assumed it would again. Bastards. _________________ I am the Dark Lord of asses. |

Oh well. I'm not too put out about this. I'm still not sure about Alchemy.
I'd rather play Race for the Galaxy anyway. _________________ This is what happens when you find a man in the Alps! |

When I played just the base game with Kurt a few weekends ago the game just clicked with me. I'd enjoyed it before that, but I hadn't really figured out what was actually happening on most turns or why the other players would be doing certain things. I've played it a few times since then and have found it to be quite fun every time.
I also find it funny to note just how much Explore gets played from new players. I've been banking on them to Settle out of the gates, but most of the time the new players are just Explore +1/+1 for a few turns in a row. Still haven't figured out how to do military well, but I'm pretty familiar with Mining League and getting the Diverse Economy going. Man, I love Diverse Economy. _________________ This is what happens when you find a man in the Alps! |

Explore is funny. New players will play it a ton, then as they get better they stop. Then as they play even more, you'll see them explore again.
I love Race, it has soo much replayability. I have a group of guys at work that play a game or two during lunch. Every once in awhile I join in and play. They're pretty damn good though, so it gets tough to win.
It has two learning curves though.
1) learning the symbols
2) learning how to play effectively
I heavily recommend the expansions too. Getting two start worlds to choose from at the beginning, and a set of goals really makes the game more fun. _________________ Hurray! Jen Con! |

I don't miss the expansions yet. I really like having less to explain to new players. Goals aren't that tough to figure out, but when you have to try and compute all of the other junk that you're doing the goals are just too much.
The Prestige stuff in the new expansion looks like another one of those things that I won't really care about missing now. _________________ This is what happens when you find a man in the Alps! |

yah I'll let ya know how that goes, with the new expansion. See if it adds much or just makes it unplayable. _________________ Hurray! Jen Con! |

After playing alchemy a few times online and off, I'm starting to like it. I don't think it is a good set to mix with the other expansions, but as a standalone expansion with the original game, I think it works fairly well. My original confusion on the game came from the potions, which you only have to use to buy the alchemy cards, not to play them out of your hand. There's some fun cards in there. _________________ I am the Dark Lord of asses. |
